A trend from VivaTech 2019 : the coming out of copyright management ? [mai 2019]

In 2010, social network solutions (Fr : réseau social d'entreprise)  were believed to dramatically transform  the work within the enterprise and the buzz formula was "L'entreprise numérique collaborative" (the collaborative digital entreprise) [1].

From our research on copyright management [2], we expected that the social network solutions would bring a paradigme for copyright valorization in B2B.
So we launched the present site to trace the journey and called it "L'entreprise numérique créative" (the creative digital enterprise) with the tag line : Digital = IT 2.0 + IP 2.0 [3].

Unfortunately for authors, designers and artists, this business paradigme has not come yet.

But in 2019, year of the European Directive of Copyright for authors, it might at last emerge [4].

From our participation at VivaTech, Paris [5], we came back with several signals.
  • Signal N°1 : Digital Workspace are outdating first generation collaborative tools.
    These tools, -Learning Management Systems, Serious Games platforms, corporate open online course (cooc) platforms-, provide trainees interaction capabilities but these capabilities are only at the content utilisation phase ;
    at the opposite, the new generation collaborative tools, -the Digital Workspaces-, bring to trainees interactiveness at the content creation phase.[6a]

    This change sharply questions legacy copyright management practices in enterprises [6b]
  • Signal N°2 : more and more young talents are aware of coyright [7] and intellectual property (IP) as a business asset ;
    and as a matter of fact, INPI has place its conference "Hackathon, intégration d'incubateurs, accélérateurs, fablab,...et la PI, vous y pensez quand ? " [Taking part to a hackathon, entering an incubator, accelerator, fablab...and IP : how about a 2p thought ?] on day 3, when general public and students are expected.
  • Signal N°3 :  European Union Directive for Copyright was mentionned among the top 19 events of the year by the autoritative economic magazine Les Echos Week-End issued the week of VivaTech [8].

The event is depicted as "L'Europe défend ses éditeurs de presse"
"Les eurodéputés adoptent a réforme européenne du droit d'auteur (...)
[Europe defends its publishers. MEPs adopt European copyright reform (...), Google traduction]

To address this trend, the SME Do-Khac Decision [9] has announced the business game Copyright Value Added-The Game Version 2, a training experience on immaterial management and Agile management [10].
